Hummer dürfen nicht mehr lebend gekocht werden
Hummer dürfen in Schweizer Restaurants künftig nicht mehr bei Bewusstsein in kochendes Wasser geworfen werden. Die Krustentiere müssen vielmehr vor ihrer Zubereitung betäubt werden, wie die Schweizer Regierung beschloss. Möglich ist dies etwa durch Elektroschocks. Die von Tierschützern geforderte Maßnahme tritt am 1. März in Kraft.
Tierschützer und Wissenschaftler gehen davon aus, dass Hummer und andere Krustentiere hochentwickelte Nervensysteme besitzen – und deswegen Qualen erleiden, wenn sie lebendig in kochendes Wasser geworfen werden, wie es in der Spitzengastronomie üblich ist.
Künftig dürfen lebende Hummer in der Schweiz auch nicht mehr auf Eis oder in eiskaltem Wasser transportiert werden. Die Schweizer Regierung beschloss am Mittwoch eine ganze Reihe von Maßnahmen für einen besseren Tierschutz.
